With digital doctor's appointments, TeleClinic allows you to focus on recovering in your own bed when you are ill, rather than having to sit in a waiting room.
It is particularly convenient that the sick note is available directly in the app. It is also a relief that the prescription can be sent to a pharmacy of your choice.
It's quick and easy to speak to a doctor. For any future reasons for using telemedicine, I will definitely use TeleClinic again. Thank you!
I particularly liked the fact that it took less than two hours and I had my prescription, including app download, registration, login and doctor contact. Thank you very much!
Great. Super easy, no fuss. It saves a lot of time and hassle around doctor's appointments. I'll be using it more often now.
You don't have to leave your bed when you're already feeling unwell, and you don't infect anyone on the way to the doctor or in the waiting room. I think that's great!

Skin diseases: Symptoms, pictures & when you should seek medical advice
The skin is our largest organ and is exposed to many influences every day. A sudden reddening, an itchy rash or a changing skin area – skin problems can be diverse and unsettle many people. While some skin changes are harmless, others can indicate a serious illness. This guide provides you with a comprehensive overview of common skin conditions, helps you to classify symptoms and shows you when it makes sense to seek medical advice – including digitally.
Definition
A skin disease (dermatosis) can manifest itself in different ways. It does not necessarily affect the skin itself, but also skin organs such as the sweat and sebaceous glands and the so-called appendages. These include toenails and fingernails, hair and hair follicles.

What are the most common skin diseases? An overview
Dermatology knows thousands of different skin diseases. They can be triggered by genetic predisposition, infections, allergies, environmental influences or autoimmune reactions. The most common skin problems in Germany include the following:
Acne (acne vulgaris)
Symptoms: Acne is characterized by blackheads (comedones), red nodules (papules) and pustules (pustules). The face, neck, chest and back are usually affected.
Triggers: The main causes are hormonal fluctuations, a genetic predisposition and an overproduction of sebum.
Treatment: Therapy ranges from medical creams and gels, which have an anti-inflammatory and horn-dissolving effect, to systemic treatments with tablets prescribed by a doctor.
Neurodermatitis (atopic dermatitis)
Symptoms: Extremely dry, scaly skin and agonizing itching are characteristic. In an acute attack, red, weeping eczema occurs.
Triggers: Attacks can be triggered by allergens (pollen, house dust mites), stress or irritating substances (e.g. wool).
Treatment: The basic therapy consists of consistent skin care. Anti-inflammatory ointments are used in acute flare-ups. Light therapy can also provide relief.
Psoriasis
Symptoms: Typical symptoms are sharply defined, red areas of skin (plaques), which are covered with silvery-white scales and may itch.
Trigger: As an autoimmune disease, flare-ups can be triggered by infections, stress or skin irritation.
Treatment: Depending on the severity, treatment is carried out with special ointments, light therapies or modern systemic medication.
Rosacea
Symptoms: Persistent redness, visible red veins (telangiectasia) and inflammatory papules and pustules, especially in the mid-face area (cheeks, nose, forehead). In contrast to acne, there are no blackheads.
Trigger: The exact cause is unclear, but triggers such as UV radiation, heat, spicy food, alcohol or stress can trigger flare-ups.
Treatment: It is important to avoid the individual triggers and to use consistent sun protection. Special gels or creams with anti-inflammatory agents are used to alleviate the symptoms.
Skin fungus (tinea)
Symptoms: Skin fungus often manifests itself as red, scaly and itchy, usually ring-shaped patches of skin. Known forms are athlete’s foot (between the toes) or nail fungus (discoloration and thickening of the nails).
Trigger: It is caused by filamentous fungi (dermatophytes) that thrive in warm, moist environments. Infection often occurs in swimming pools, saunas or through direct skin contact.
Treatment: Treatment is carried out with special antimycotic (fungicidal) creams or varnishes. In cases of persistent infestation, systemic treatment with tablets may also be necessary.
Hives (urticaria)
Symptoms: Suddenly appearing, very itchy and raised wheals on the skin, which usually disappear again within 24 hours.
Triggers: Acute infections, intolerance to medication or food and physical stimuli such as cold or pressure are often responsible.
Treatment: The main focus is on relieving the itching with antihistamines. If possible, avoiding the trigger is crucial.
Shingles (herpes zoster)
Symptoms: The disease usually begins with burning pain. After a few days, a rash with small, fluid-filled blisters forms in the affected area of skin, often in the shape of a belt on one half of the body.
Trigger: Reactivation of the varicella zoster virus (the causative agent of chickenpox), often with a weakened immune system.
Treatment: Rapid treatment with antiviral medication is important to avoid complications such as long-lasting nerve pain.
Skin rash – not just one symptom, but many causes
A skin rash (exanthema) is not a disease in its own right, but a symptom that can be caused by a wide variety of things. A medical diagnosis is crucial in order to find the right treatment.
- Infections: Viruses (e.g. measles, rubella), bacteria or fungi can cause typical skin rashes.
- Allergies: A reaction to cosmetics, nickel (contact dermatitis), food or medication can lead to itchy rashes.
- Chronic skin diseases: Rashes are a core symptom of diseases such as neurodermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea.
- External irritants: Strong sunlight (sun allergy), excessive sweating (heat spots) or dry air can irritate the skin.
Special attention required: Recognizing skin cancer
Skin cancer is a serious disease whose chances of recovery depend largely on early detection. A distinction is mainly made between white and black skin cancer.
- White skin cancer: Usually develops in sun-exposed areas as a rough, scaly patch, small nodule or poorly healing wound. It grows slowly and rarely forms metastases.
- Black skin cancer (malignant melanoma): This is the most aggressive form, with an early tendency to metastasize. It can develop from existing moles or new ones on healthy skin.
Self-examination using the ABCDE rule is crucial for the early detection of melanoma:
- A – Asymmetry: The patch is unevenly shaped.
- B – Boundary: The edges are blurred, blurred or irregular.
- C – Color: The stain is unevenly colored (various shades of brown, black, red or white).
- D – Diameter: The diameter is greater than 5 millimeters.
- E – Elevation/development: The spot protrudes above the skin level or has changed in the last few weeks.
When should you see a doctor if you have skin problems?
A medical examination is always advisable if you are concerned about skin changes. In particular, if you notice a change according to the ABCDE rule, you should act promptly.
I can’t get an appointment with a dermatologist – what can I do?
Long waiting times for an appointment with a specialist are frustrating. Digital consultations offer a quick alternative. The doctors at TeleClinic can diagnose many skin diseases via video consultation: Make an appointment now.
How the skin examination by video works
You can easily access digital diagnostics via your smartphone:
- Book an appointment: Select a suitable date. Appointments are often available on the same day.
- Share information: Describe your symptoms and upload informative photos of the affected skin area.
- Personal consultation: The doctor makes a diagnosis during the video call.
- Receive a treatment plan: You will receive an individual treatment plan. If necessary, a prescription or sick note can also be requested*. This is always issued at the discretion of the treating doctor.
Your skin health is important. Do not hesitate to seek professional help if your symptoms are unclear. An early diagnosis can have a positive influence on the course of treatment and quickly help you to feel better again.
