You don’t have to leave your bed when you’re already feeling unwell, and you don’t infect anyone on the way to the doctor or in the waiting room. I think that’s great!

With digital doctor’s appointments, TeleClinic allows you to focus on recovering in your own bed when you are ill, rather than having to sit in a waiting room.

It is particularly convenient that the sick note is available directly in the app. It is also a relief that the prescription can be sent to a pharmacy of your choice.

Everything you need to know about telemedicine, health and doctor’s appointments
Our wiki contains information on a wide range of health topics such as telemedicine and remote diagnosis, as well as important topics such as living wills, emergency data and organ donor cards. TeleClinic’s online doctors can also advise you on these topics via video consultation.
How does telemedicine work?
In theory, the term telemedicine also includes telephone consultations. However, today it generally refers to video chat with visual contact via a smartphone app. Since the doctor can see the patient, it is easier for them to get an idea of their condition. In addition, they can examine certain symptoms such as rashes, redness or wounds.
Why is telemedicine recommended?
Digital contact has numerous advantages for both sides:
- Sick people are spared the often arduous journey to the doctor’s surgery, including long travel times and searching for a parking space.
- A sick note can be issued within minutes via the app.
- There is no need to wait weeks for an appointment with a specialist.
- Chronically ill patients no longer have to visit their doctor for every repeat prescription.
- Employees are absent less often due to doctor’s appointments involving long journeys to the surgery and waiting times.
- In rural areas with a shortage of doctors, access to specialists is made considerably easier.
- Data for monitoring health status can be automatically recorded and forwarded to the attending physician.
- Patients find it less embarrassing to contact a stranger via screen when discussing sensitive and delicate issues.
- Doctors reduce the number of patients in often infectious waiting rooms.
- If necessary, a second (specialist) doctor can be consulted via video link.
Are you an expat living, working or studying in Germany?
The German healthcare system can be challenging – even if you speak German. But we’re here to help: TeleClinic is your first port of call for English-language online medical advice from German doctors as well as issuing prescriptions and sick notes in Germany.
These articles are intended solely to provide you with preliminary information on various topics and are not a substitute for a medical diagnosis. Experienced doctors are available to provide further advice via TeleClinic. We will first assess whether your concern is suitable for a video consultation.
